As examinations come knocking the door every year, students go knee-deep into humongous revision processes. The purpose of revising what we studied is twofold –

  • It helps students remember the facts and methodologies of a subject long studied, and
  • Doubles up the confidence in that particular subject.

How to revise properly is something several students struggle with. So, here are some strategies to consider for making the most of your revisions.

  1. Failures are not something to be traumatized about. Failures and mistakes are feedback for you to make improvements. So, learn from your failures and make changes in your strategies. Ask yourself, what could have been done differently to avoid the failure.

  1. What you pursue in the future is completely a self-choice, but schooling is necessary for every child to get their basics right. So, while in school, give your 100% effort and focus on success. Winning is an addiction worth having.

  1. Bruce Lee quoted, “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.”

Practice what you learn again and again until you are the best at it. Learning the facts, but not practicing them blocks your performance from reflecting your knowledge.

  1. Revision is a power in itself; it assists your memory and encourages learning. With innovation, children these days have unique ways of relearning. You can rewrite, watch videos, and listen to podcasts, whichever medium you feel the most comfortable with.

  1. Have a schedule for the revision process and stick to it. Set aside a particular time for revising each subject, smartly distribute it through the week. Schedules are a part of accountability, helps you stay on track.

  1. Proper rest is very essential for a child’s learning process. Settle for a day in a week when you sleep early, wake up early and refreshed. A revived brain revises better. Staying up late at night causes tiredness and stress which impacts brain health and grades.

  1. A lot many students wait for the examinations to come around the corner and start revising a month or a few weeks before. To stay ahead, one must involve active revisions throughout the year.

  1. Music has a massive impact on our brains; it helps to cope up with anxiety. The positive mood it creates helps in memorizing what we read. Incorporate the effect of music while you revise, choose different genres for different subjects.

  1. Set milestones in your revision process and treat yourself with a reward for completing each. Achieving goals and getting rewarded promotes a sense of courage and confidence.

  1. Take breaks between your studies, clear your mind of everything. The space created prepares you better for the next slot of revision.

  1. No two students are the same, neither their studying process. Concentrate on your performance and never compare yourself to your peers. Test your aptitude and sharpen them, and mostly, enjoy the process.
