Post for all Platform

Sweatshirts before were largely associated with men’s post-gym wardrobe or the one that demands you a pack of pizza and a Saturday night in. However, modern-day sweatshirts are so better than that! But before we give you tips on how to wear a sweatshirt, we’ll give you a short background lesson.

Most of you may not be aware of the difference between a sweater and a sweatshirt. Although they both have the same design, sweatshirts are produced from a cotton jersey and intended for athletic use. Meanwhile, sweaters are made from in woven or more premium fabrics which make them perfect for formal and smart-casual looks like layering it with a suit.

How to Choose a Quality Sweatshirt

There are two specific aspects you need to consider when searching for a reliable and fashionable sweatshirt to throw over for casual tasks.

  1. Sweatshirts made in fabrics- Classic sweatshirts are always made up of 100 percent loopback fabric and tend to be bigger in their threading. When looking for modern sweatshirts, opt for cotton-polyester mixes which can be thinner whilst remaining sturdy and insulating. We highly suggest jersey cotton since it’s best for comfort and durability, used primarily in sportswear.
  2. Sweatshirt with contemporary cuts-  If classic sweatshirts show a looser fit, contemporary sweats are cut closer to the body on the shoulders and waist. The option largely depends on the wearer but we recommend going for the slimmer fit for those after a smarter look to be paired with slim-fit jeans or chinos. Looser sweatshirts can be used for weekend hiking.

Why Do Sweatshirts Always Have ‘V’ Pattern on Them?

The V pattern you always is one of the trademarks of a sweatshirt. It’s a triangle V stitching on the front, and sometimes back of a sweatshirt at the neckline in the centre. It’s called a V-stitch or V-insert for a reason, and that reason was to really prevent the sweatshirt from being over-stretched when putting it over your head. Today, the quality is so much better, the V continues to be a design feature, it’s a way for sweatshirts to remember its roots.

Ways to Wear A Sweatshirt

The sweatshirt is a fashion statement that’s very versatile and functional. Here are several ways to wear a sweatshirt:

Sweatshirt with Chinos

Although chinos are the ideal clothes for summer, they can also work really well during colder seasons when sweatshirt season begins and you prefer something a bit more comfy than trousers but more formal than jeans. It’s ideal to pair tighter-fitting sweatshirts with chinos because of their smart casual nature. You can also wear them over tees, collared shirts or polos for a sharp and effortless look.

Sweatshirt with Shorts

Pairing your sweatshirt with shorts is a great look for warm autumns where style counts more than functionality. For a winter workout look, the sweatshirts can be paired with gym shorts and runners. If you are looking for something more polished, then opt for fitted dress shorts and match it with a non-logo sweatshirt. You let the fitment and quality of fabric do the talking.

Sweatshirt with Sweatpants

And of course, the full sweatshirt/sweatpants combination. This full athleisure combo is worn as a gym uniform before and now is a lifestyle uniform. You may wear this if you’re riding a plane or if you’re visiting a local cafe. It’s a cool casual look for any casual occasion.

Sneakers can be also worn to keep the sweatshirt fitted for a more modern style. Obviously, matching tops and bottoms are one of the biggest trends right now.
